42nd day… Breakfast for the last CRY… Departure…

My “Second Family”

DSC03606

We had our last breakfast with them. What touches my heart so much till i cried while eating my breakfast is, all the food that we ate today was specially prepared for us. The Kampung chicken was slaughtered by himself (man on the 2nd most right hand corner). Their hospitality makes me cried again. Before we left, the man ask for our address.

My Last Day of Reflection: What I realized in reality, we need to make friends everywhere you are in this world. Even though I am very far away from my families, strangers can be your “second family”. Only them whom you can find help if you are in touble or in pain. And they are the ones whom they can help you. Well, the hospitality that I got from my “second family”. They treat us like their family, serve us their specialty food to us before we leave. Lastly, they cried while we kissed their hands and hugged them before we leave the stall.

This is what I have learn in my Overseas Immersion Programme in Wuhan. Treat it as your home, your family and be friends even though they are strangers to you in the beginning.

I am going to missed them plus their Food!!!

In China, when I want to eat chocolate, I always ending up eating red beans. Weird right?

But only 2 chill products that I can find which are purely Chocolate base product. It is Ice-cream.

Halal Chocolate bars, I can rarely find it in any stalls.

But Non-Halal Chocolate Bars that I can find in Wuhan is; Dove, Snickers, Cadbury.

33rd day – 40th day… Relaxing + Some Shopping Day…

Went shopping on ourselves after finishing all our Business Process Engineering modules.

Saw this cat nearby the streets that we went shopping. Reminds me of my another cat at home. The only different of this cat is she has 2 different colored eyeballs. Its blue and orange. As for my cat, his eyes changes when he has different emotions.

DSC03574

Reflections: Before I came to this street, I never seen any cats roaming around anywhere in Wuhan. So when I come across with this cat, I fall in love with her. But too bad I cannot bring her back home as my 2 cats will be very jealous. hehe. And also due to the immigration securities. I just feel home when i met this cat. I do not feel bad as I really missed my cats at home so much.

So far, I do not really like shopping. But I heard some of my friends went shopping like crazy. Since the changing rate is totally different, we cannot simply go shopping till it really burden ourselves. Such as excess baggage that we need to pay extra for it, too heavy till we need help to carry it and ect.

My motto is just simple, Just be Simple.

The rest of the days, I just stay in my dorm and just so small shopping. As I love to Sleep. =)

China’s 60th National Day Celebration… Information…

xin_14210060110311252835916

BEIJING, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) — A grand flag-raising ceremony in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) was held Thursday morning in central Beijing.

Before the ceremony, Liu Qi, secretary of the Beijing MunicipalCommittee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), announced the start of the anniversary celebration on Tian’anmen Square in the heart of the Chinese capital.

Amid 60 gun salutes, 200 national flag guards in olive green uniforms walked down the platform of the Monument to the People’s Heroes in the center of Tian’anmen Square, marching northward on ared carpet toward the national flag post.

The guards walked a total of 169 steps, which symbolized 169 years since 1840, a watershed in China’s history when the country lost the Opium War with Britain. That eventually led to the scramble of Western powers in China.

The founding of the People’s Republic ended China’s history of being humiliated by outside forces. The country now is emerging asa major political and economic power on the international stage.

President Hu Jintao, flanked by former president Jiang Zemin, top legislator Wu Bangguo, Premier Wen Jiabao and other leaders and invited guests, stood in the balcony of Tian’anmen Rostrum overlooking the packed square.

They joined hundreds of thousands of paraders, soldiers, and invited dignitaries to observe the ceremony.

While the flag was being hoisted, many sang in chorus with the 1,300-member military band playing the national anthem.

The 440,000-square-meter Tian’anmen Square is believed to be the largest city square in the world. Six decades ago, the founding ceremony of the PRC was held on the square and late Chairman Mao Zedong announced the birth of New China. Mao himself pressed the button to hoist the first national flag of the PRC.

This is what we could not see through the television as our dormitories not equipped with television. Even along our school compound, seems like there is no patriotic feeling among the students. Maybe this is our 1st time here and we also do not feel the China’s National Day celebration.

Reflection: Today is is our 1st given holiday. hehe. Just only 1 day of holiday. -_-

Students in this WUST campus was given 8 days of holidays. What a great holiday.

And we also having our happy holiday staying in our dormitories without going out to finish up all our assignments before the deadlines.

School compound seems to be very quiet here. Good environment for us to stay on our beds and to do WORK. hehe.

Our Dormitory Building

DSC03551

As I came back walking from my afternoon class towards my dormitory, I suddenly wandering why our dormitory buildings were not equipped with lightning groundings. Or is it they have their own method to do lightning groundings?

Previously, we had encountered twice the incident of blackout happened to our whole school compound. Firstly we had it early in the morning before we departured to 3 Gorges Trip. So we just have to bath without any light in our bathroom. Everyone of us like half blinded just because of the blackout. =)

And the second blackout was last Monday (28/9/2009) but luckily it happened during the day.

So I thought that because there was no lightning groundings, it might be the cause of the blackout…

Then the only thing that I can see equipments just the same as Singapore Civil Defence while making the siren during Civil Defence Day.

Reflection: I took both up and down cable car rides. As I accompanied Mr Loh even though there are some other lectures took the same rides. It was a magnificent ride compared to our Mount Faber-Sentosa cable car ride. But frankly, I cannot compare Singapore to China as China has huge mountain area and a big country, whereas Singapore is just a small country. It was totally a great experience for me to have the chance to experience all the marvelous tourist attraction in Hubei, China. The view is so awesome that I cannot describe it in my own words. Even though the time flies so fast till I cannot feel it. Maybe due to weather changing as the day getting shorter. But I really had a wonderful time traveling.

25th day… IS again… Business Etiquette… then shopping + lunch… and then class again

Then I saw this… DURIAN, imported from Thailand.

I really missed eating durians back in Singapore.

My dinner….

Beef with Potato + Rice

DSC03313

Reflection: To my expectations, especially in Wuhan, nothing much difference in Singapore except for some issues. Like their language, behavior and systems.

Other then that, it seems like I somehow feel that I am in Singapore rite now. Feeling so homey as the food is easily to get even though there is only 3 stalls selling Muslim food nearby our dormitory.

The surroundings around the campus is still like Singapore as there is also tall buildings, shopping centers, tall apartment houses and terrace houses.

The only problem I am having now is changing currency. I have to find Bank Of China to change Singapore currency as my Mother gave me in cash. So far everything seems running smoothly here. =)

18th, 19th & 20th day… 3 Gorges trip…

Early in the morning around 4 am, I woke up to fresh-up before we depart to 3 Gorges Trip.  But when I took my towel, washed my laundry, SUDDENLY “tick” sound knocks my ear and blackness surrounded me. I was stunned and do not know what to do next. Until Ida, my room mate on her torchlight. So we have to bath “secretly” in the darkness. Well, this is my first time encounter blackout in China.

7am we start our journey to 3 Gorges Trip.

Bishan Convenient Shop??? hehe =)

DSC02932

While waiting the rest having their lunch, Me with Hajar and Ida, went strolling around the restaurant area and we saw this shop. The name of the shop reminds me of Bishan estate. hehe.

Information:

Before we reached at the 3 Gorges Project Model Room, we passed few rows of tunnels along the way.

As the tour guide told us, all the lights in the tunnels were light up by the hydroelectric power from the dam.

And each light cost $2000 RMB. Why so expensive? It is because the lights can heat up the roads so that the roads in the tunnels will not be slippery. =)

It is a great eye opener for me to see them working to earn each cents for their life. From young till they are old, they have been paddling  as their daily routines.

They do not go to school and among their own tribal, they speak their own language.

So my friends and I in the small sampan tried to donate some cash to give them extra money for them to use it for their daily necessities.

The last measurement that I captured. Our cruise is at 65m from the water level. Previously it was measured above 150m above the water level. So after few gate, like 5 gates, it drops more than 85m. How great was that?

17th day… when I start to fall sick again…

My 3rd and 4th bottles of drips

My Left hand for today… Yesterday was Right hand…

17092009014

I was not feeling well again today as my headache was quite terrible. And when I ate the medicine given, I had very bad toilet visit then yesterday. So Mr Loh bring me to visit the doctor again. But now it really surprised me. Fly Swatter was at the doctor’s room. Hehe…

If it is in Singapore, Confirm plus surely must close hospital already. =)

So after Mr Loh paid the medicine prescription around $70, I have to go for another round of 2 bottles of drips again.

16th day… when I start to fall sick…

I was laying on my bed when my room mate, Ida feel my forehead. She said that I am on fever. And she said she will inform Mr Loh about my fever. While I am resting, Mr Loh called me to get prepared as he will bring me to the hospital. So Mr Loh, my room mates, Ida and Hajar accompanied me to see the doctor. When the doctor trying to get my particulars, I guessed they have problem writing my name in Chinese characters. Hehe. So Mr Loh helped me to write my “little name”, “Siti”. Seems like my name would be the first in the history of medical record. =)

After checking on me, the doctor gave some prescription. Then Mr Loh paid for my medication which cost around $99 in total. I thought everything was done like normally we visit our private doctor.  But then I have to go to the 2nd storey to get my 2 bottles of drips. =(

I was just being injected.

DSCF6300

My 1st and 2nd bottles of drips… Glass bottle!!! Vintage…Classic =)

Even the syringe and clinical thermometers are also in glass.

17092009013

So I have to wait about 2 hours for 2 bottles of drips.

Reflection: When you are away from your own home town, must always adapt to the country, culture, people, language and lastly not forgetting FOOD. So we must learn their famous or local food but eat in a correct and hygienic place. And always see your food is cleaned and properly cooked before you eat. But eat to less also got problem. So must eat in moderate. =)

But as for me, it was a great experience for me to visit the hospital. I got the chance to meet the head of the hospital. Sorry that I do not know her name but she was kind as she offered me a warm green bean drink. Before I leave WUST, I must take a picture with her as a memento.
